Professional Standards
I’m an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Accred, 289227), and I follow the BACP Ethical and Professional Code of Conduct. In keeping with the ‘Putting Clients First’ commitment, I use clinical judgment thoughtfully and on a case-by-case basis, always considering the therapeutic context and your individual circumstances. This may guide decisions across all aspects of our work together, including those detailed in the practicalities of our work together. Therapy is being undertaken in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the English Courts.
Online Therapy
I offer video therapy via Zoom or WhatsApp for clients living in the UK. While online counselling can be a flexible and accessible option, it may not be the right fit if you’re in crisis or feeling severely distressed. At the start of each session, I’ll gently check where you are and ask for a traceable address, simply to support your safety. Interruptions can occasionally happen online — we’ll both do our best to minimise them. If the connection drops, we’ll try to reconnect on the same platform or switch to another we’ve agreed on.
Freedom to End
You are always free to leave therapy at any time. If you’d like to talk it through, I’m here for that too.
Cancellations and Late Attendance
If you need to cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice, or if you don’t attend, the full fee still applies.
With at least 48 hours’ notice, I may be able to offer a swap, depending on availability.
I don’t charge for sessions I cancel and will always aim to give as much notice as possible when planning time away.
If you arrive late, we’ll still finish at the scheduled time.
If more than three consecutive sessions are missed, I won’t be able to hold your regular slot — but we can check availability together when you’re ready to return.
Fees
For self-funded clients, the fee is £70 per session.
Payment is due on the day, by bank transfer.
Health insurance fees vary depending on your provider.
If you’re registered with an insurance company or Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), please check that I’m a registered provider with them — otherwise, therapy may not be covered.
It’s important to verify your insurance allowance when arranging your first appointment.
Referrals
We’ll regularly check in on how therapy is going and whether it continues to feel like the right support for you.
If I feel your needs are beyond my scope, I may suggest ending our work — always with care, and with your best interests at heart.
Where possible, I’ll support you in finding the right help.
Crisis
My practice isn’t an emergency service. If you’re in crisis, please reach out now:
Samaritans: 116 123 (24/7) or jo@samaritans.org
Crisis Line (UK): 0800 917 3333
If you feel unable to keep yourself safe, please go to your local A&E or call 999.
Therapeutic Safety
I’ll always consider whether the conditions feel right for therapeutic work, with your well-being in mind.
If I have concerns, I’ll aim to share them with you and explore a way forward together.
In some situations, this may not be possible, and I may need to end the session early.
If so, the full fee will still apply.
Complaints
I’m committed to good practice.
If something doesn’t feel right, I encourage you to raise it with me so we can try to work through it together.
If that’s not possible, or doesn’t lead to a resolution, you’re welcome to contact my professional body, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Reviewing Practicalities
From time to time, I may review and update these practicalities. This helps ensure they remain aligned with BACP guidance, legal requirements, and my practice’s evolving needs. Any changes will be made with care and clarity, always with your well-being in mind
